Ramos didn’t deserve respect – Alves

Former Sevilla full-back Dani Alves doesn’t believe Sergio Ramos achieved enough at the Andalucians to demand respect from the club’s fans.

Ramos left Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan after just 50 appearances for Los Rojiblancos to join Real Madrid for a €27m fee in 2005 – playing in the same defence as Alves – but never won a trophy for the club, and was the subject of fans derogatory chants upon his latest return to Seville last month.

"I think it's totally wrong that Ramos is subjected to insults, but at the same time he may not be in a position to make these demands from the fans regarding respect,” explained the now Juventus defender to Seville-based newspaper ABC.

"Ramos to be frank didn't achieve that much at Sevilla to not celebrate goals or to ask for forgiveness when scoring. I was there for six years and won plenty of titles.

"Just a few days before morning to Real Madrid, Ramos declared eternal love for Sevilla and that is the root problem of the ire that the fans hold towards Ramos. He's still hostage to those words.”
