Suarez: Barca CAN come back

Luis Suarez has issued a rallying cry to his Barcelona teammates, insisting they can come back from 4-0 down against Paris Saint-Germain.

Barca are considered to be all-but-out of the Champions League after their heavy defeat to PSG in Tuesday’s last-16 first leg, but Suarez made it clear his side could yet stage the mother of all turnarounds.

“Our message is clear: we have to confide in ourselves,” the striker said at a book presentation on Friday.

“This club and this team have made history with their trophies and trebles, but we have to set ourselves the objective of coming back in this tie to write ourselves into Barca’s history.

“It’ll be very, very difficult, but in football nothing’s impossible. We won’t let our heads drop.

“It’s true that we’ve been down these last few days, but when we’re back playing, we’ll certainly give everything for this shirt.

“We had a bad match in Paris and we have to accept it: they were superior. Throughout this season, we’ve experienced very high and very low points. We have to go back to what we were in the last year or two.

“We’ve been playing every three days and it’s only now that we’ve suffered a heavy defeat.

“It’s going to be a long few days for us, but we want to play as soon as possible to reverse this situation and we’ll deal with it together.

“Last season, we also had difficult moments and still won the League and the Cup. We’re capable, we have quality and team are brimming with it.

“Not only do you have to assume [responsibility] when you win, but also when you lose.

“If this Press conference was scheduled for Wednesday or yesterday, I probably would’ve cancelled it, but little by little you have to try to take responsibility and it’s times like now when you have to show unity. I have nothing to hide, that’s why I’ve come and talked.

“Replacement for Vidal? That’s a decision for the Coach and Robert Fernandez.

“Obviously, whoever comes will be welcomed, will add value and keep adding it.

“I’m a father of two children, I can put myself in the shoes of other parents and I can understand their suffering.

“Players don’t live in a bubble, we have feelings and can also have bad times.”
