Juanfran hamstring injury confirmed

Full-back Juanfran looks set to miss Atletico Madrid’s crucial clashes with Bayer Leverkusen and Barcelona due to a hamstring injury.

The 32-year-old was forced off at half-time in Atleti’s 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo on Sunday night with medical tests carried out by the club showing a "grade I-II injury".

"After being forced to leave the pitch with an injury on Sunday against Celta, Juanfran Torres has undergone a scan which has showed that the Alicante-born player suffered a grade I-II injury in his right hamstring,” read a club statement.

The Spain international has been competing with €16m summer signing Sime Vrsaljko for a starting place in Diego Simeone’s side this campaign and has regularly played in a more advanced position in midfield.
