Zidane calls for Madrid focus

Zinedine Zidane has described Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Napoli as ‘50/50’ and has called on his side to show focus.

Madrid host the Italian giants at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night before the return leg in Naples next month, with Zidane’s side attempting to become the first team in the Champions League era to retain the trophy.

"I want us to be focused, we know it's 50/50; we have the first game at home tomorrow and we know that we can hurt them and that they can hurt us too,” Zidane explained in his pre-match press conference.

"In attack they have good players, good movement, a lot of intensity. And players who are technically very good.

"We're going to take it step by step and game by game – every team wants to win the Champions League, but it's a long, hard road and we're on that road.

“We're in good shape, we have everyone back available and I'm very happy to see everyone focused on the Champions League.

"Real Madrid will always be among the favourites. But the crest on your shirt isn't going to guarantee you anything.

“You have to fight hard, it's a long, hard competition. We know that we can always win games if we fight from the start to the end – those are the values of this club.

"Gareth Bale? This is his first week back training with us – he's in good sahpe, he's recovered well. You'll have to see whether he's in the squad or not, or whether it's this weekend. He's had almost three months out and we have to take it slowly."
