Rafinha suffers broken nose

Barcelona have confirmed that Rafinha broke his nose during Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in La Liga.

Rafinha took an accidental blow to the face from Barca teammate Marc-Andre ter Stegen, before leaving the game in the 54th minute with a bandage wrapped around his head to cover a gash just above his left eyebrow.

That gash has since been complemented by a fractured nose, which leaves the midfielder doubtful for the Catalans’ next three games, among them the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid and the Champions League last-16 opener with Paris Saint-Germain.

Gerard Pique was also substituted with a suspected hamstring strain, but despite his absence from training on Sunday, Barca have not issued a medical report concerning the defender.
