Atletico Madrid's Lucas Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in the early hours of this morning.
Spanish newspaper El Mundo reports that the defender arrived home in a state of drunkenness, a short time before his girlfriend had to be transferred to a local hospital having sustained injuries.
Although the injuries are not said to be serious and the girlfriend has not, as of yet, reported any wrongdoing by Hernandez to the police, the Frenchman continues to be detained by authorities.
The 20-year-old, who is a product of the Rojiblancos' youth academy, was arrested at around 2.30am.
