Jese to join Las Palmas on Monday

Las Palmas will complete the loan signing of Jese Rodriguez from Paris Saint-Germain on Monday night, say various reports across Spain.

The 23-year-old’s move to Gran Canaria was set to be finalised on Sunday night, but both Marca and AS now claim ‘club sources’ have informed them that the protracted deal will be announced on Monday evening.

The two clubs have been locked in negotiations throughout January regarding the move but wages have proved the main stumbling block on the temporary deal being concluded.

Serie A duo AS Roma and AC Milan were also reportedly keen while English side Middlesbrough believed their superior financial position would allow them to do a deal, but such was the player’s desire to return to his hometown club he has been insistent to the Parisians to conclude the move.

Jese has featured in just 14 games since a big-money move from Real Madrid in the summer after failing to settle under new boss Unai Emery.

Argentine striker Sergio Araujo’s loan departure to AEK Athens allowed Las Palmas to up their wage offer.
