Toronto FC’s Italian forward Sebastian Giovinco revealed he turned down a bid from Barcelona before moving to Canada as he ‘would have been a ball boy’.
The 30-year-old left Juventus in 2015 having fallen out of favour in Turin but he states he rejected the opportunity to move to Camp Nou as he wanted to ensure maximum playing time at a new club.
"It's true that in the past there was interest from Barcelona but I would have been a ball boy there,” explained Giovinco.
“With the three stars they have in attack, I would not have played at all. I wasn't interested because I want to play.
“Neymar, Messi and Suárez could have played with one leg and still have an impact, so there was no sense in going there."
