Marcelo and Modric lay-offs confirmed

Real Madrid have confirmed that midfielder Luka Modric and full-back Marcelo are both set for spells on the sidelines following injuries sustained against Malaga.

The pair were substituted off in Satuday's 2-1 win for Zinedine Zidane's side and it has now been confirmed that the Brazilian full-back Marcelo has a hamstring injury while former Spurs player Modric has an adductor injury, although the muscle has not been torn, tests confirmed.

Whilst the club have not realised details of the timescale's the pair are expected to be out for, it is thought Marcelo will miss between three and four weeks of action while the Croatian midfielder will miss two weeks.

It adds to an injury crisis at Madrid as Dani Carvajal, Pepe and Gareth Bale are all long-term injuries while James, Danilo and Cristiano Ronaldo are all thought to be unavailable due to minor knocks.

"I'm a bit fed up with the injuries because we've got a lot of games ahead and I'm a bit downbeat," Real coach Zinedine Zidane said to the club's official website on Saturday.

"We've got an important game on Wednesday and we'll have to see what happens."
