Sampaoli: ‘Discussing Barca disrespectful’

Jorge Sampaoli says it would be disrespectful to Sevilla to discuss rumours linking him to the Barcelona job.

The former Chile Coach has only been in charge of the Rojiblancos since last summer but has won admirers for the way he has propelled the Andalusians into LaLiga title contention.

However, at the Press conference to preview the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan side's trip to Osasuna, Sampaoli insisted his only focus was on his current club.

"I have a contract for two years and I am not thinking of anything other than this club," the Argentine told reporters. "That's all I am linked to.

"What happens today can change tomorrow and the critics arrive.

"Barcelona? It would be a lack of respect to Sevilla to talk about another team. I am happy here with these players and these people.

"I'm not thinking about anything other than Sunday, neither does anything other than Sevilla excite me."

The 56-year-old then discussed today's match with the League's bottom club, underlining that Sevilla have historically struggled to get results in Pamplona.

"The idea is to get a good result and underline everything we have done until now. It is a hard place to go and Sevilla have always had problems there. We want to dominate and win.

"What is coming up is more important than the win against Madrid. I don't think we are worse than we are at home, we played a great game in the Anoeta.

"We need to be strong because we need a lot of points."
