Romero ‘calm’ despite defeat

Marcelo Romero insists he is 'calm' despite Malaga's defeat to Real Madrid.

Los Boquerones put in a spirited performance at the Bernabeu against the European champions but ultimately succumbed to a 2-1 loss.

The result means the Uruguayan is still looking for his first win since succeeding Juande Ramos in Andalusia, but the 40-year-old was more than happy with his team's performance.

"I am very calm with the work the team is doing," Romero said. "We have been playing against teams who are high in the table.

"Today we competed with the leaders and we could have got a draw. We could also have gone in front at the start.

"The performance was very good."

The former midfielder then denied that he viewed the result as a 'sweet defeat.'

"There are never sweet defeats, the important thing is to win. It doesn't matter who it is against.

"We need to get used to going out and winning and today we thought we could win. It was one of our best matches."
