Iniesta to undergo calf tests

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta will undergo tests on a calf problem after being forced off at half time in his side’s win at Real Sociedad on Thursday.

The 32-year-old was forced off at the break with after feeling discomfort in his calf and was replaced by Andre Gomes in a closely-fought contest that was decided by Neymar’s early penalty.

"Iniesta was substituted due to a problem with his left calf. [On Friday], he will have more tests back in Barcelona,” read a club statement after the game.

The experienced midfielder missed six weeks with a knee injury earlier in the season after sustaining the knock against Valencia, returning as a second-half substitute in December's draw with Real Madrid.

His absence coincided with a poor run of form for Luis Enrique’s side – they drew four of five matches at one point – but his return then saw a rejuvenation where they won five matches on the spin.
