Liverpool among suitors for Jese

Former Real Madrid forward Jese could leave Paris Saint-Germain for Liverpool in the January transfer window but the Reds face competition from elsewhere.

Reports in Spain claim that Jurgen Klopp’s side are in the hunt for Jese, who left Santiago Bernabeu for the Parc Des Princes in summer 2016, but has struggled to make an impression under ex-Sevilla Coach Unai Emery.

Las Palmas are also keen on the Canary Islands native but could be priced out of a move, according to sporting director Nicolas Ortega.

Ortega added that while there is interest in Jese, the club wouldn’t be willing to break their salary structure to complete his signing. It’s believed that it’s Jese or no-one in the forward ranks for Las Palmas, and money is the only object to the transfer.

Liverpool are joined by Premier League rivals Middlesbrough in pursuit of the 23-year-old, the North East club managed by Aitor Karanka, who worked with Jese at Madrid when assistant to Jose Mourinho.

Jese and his agent are understood to be willing to wait until later in the January transfer window to make a decision on the future, believing that as the weeks pass more clubs will become interested as they search for a striker to bolster the squad for the rest of the season.
