Betis suffer Joaquin lay-off

Real Betis will be without their captain Joaquin for between 3-4 weeks after the winger suffered a knee injury in training this week.

The 35-year-old went down injured in training on Tuesday and tests revealed he has sprained muscles in his knee which could rule him out for up to a month, and it comes less than a fortnight after he had returned from a calf injury.

The setback rules the veteran out of Los Verdiblancos upcoming matches against Sporting Gijon, Barcelona, Deportivo and possibly his old club Valencia.

Felipe Gutierrez and Antonio Sanabria are both still unavailable for Betis due to injury, while defender Aissa Mandi is at the African Cup of Nations.

Joaquin's injury along with the departure of Charly Musonda has led to speculation the Seville-based club could sign players this month to reinforce their squad.
