Orellana hits back at Berizzo

Celta Vigo coach Eduardo Berizzo has been accused of being ‘very disloyal’ by winger Fabian Orellana, who has been told he won’t play for the club again.

The 30-year-old Chilean winger – who has made 113 appearances for Celta after joining from Granada in 2011 – had been accused of showing an ‘unacceptable lack of respect’ by Berizzo, who proceeded to drop him from the squad despite not going into details of the dispute.

"Just as the coach didn't enter into details, I will not say what happened,” Orellana told Chilean newspaper Emol.

"But it wasn't as serious as the coach painted it. All I have to say is that Berizzo was very disloyal with me.

"I admit I made a mistake but from something small, a big mountain was created.

"He said I disrespected him and the team but it wasn't collective. It was personal between him and me and he transferred it to the professional side.

"It wasn't unacceptable as he said, and it's not the first time he has had problems with players.

"I tried to apologise to him personally and in front of the group but he would not let me speak.

"The club obviously had to back the coach but I can't understand this decision. I found out three days ago and it came as a total surprise to me."
