Berizzo relief at late Celta win

Eduardo Berizzo praised the perseverance of his Celta Vigo side and hailed an important three points against an ‘uncomfortable’ opponent in Alaves.

Serbian midfielder Nemanja Radoja netted the game’s only goal a minute from time to seal the win for the Galicians, while the visitors had to play with ten men after Zouhair Feddal’s red card at the start of the second half.

“Radoja had wanted to score a goal for quite a while so thankfully it was a very important one today at the end of a really tough game,” Berizzo told reporters after the game.

“We always initiated attacks in this game but they are a solid defensive unit who also had a really strong goalkeeper so thankfully our one goal was enough.

“The result may be a little unfair on Alaves who made things very difficult throughout but it is a great victory against a really uncomfortable opponent who are justifying their league position and strong start this season.

“I have to congratulate our opponents and their coach, but I’m just glad they came away empty handed today.”
