Valencia boss Voro Gonzalez believes Simone Zaza is “a proven striker”, who has the “character” to help the club put pay to their slump.
Zaza’s loan from Juventus is expected to be confirmed early next week, and although he will not be able to count on the Italian against Espanyol on Sunday, Voro is excited by the player’s imminent arrival.
“Zaza is a proven striker who was wanted by the previous Coach and sporting director and is an international player,” the Coach said at a Press conference.
“Although he didn’t play much for his last team, he’s a player with character.
“Espanyol? We need to be competitive and have clear ideas. We’re competing well, but we lack small details that aren’t helping.
“It’s an important game against difficult opponents, but if we want to get on the right track then we have to win.
“The support of the fans is crucial and I have no doubt that the team will give everything.
“2016 was a year of tribulations and disgust, but we need the fans on side. We’re all playing against Espanyol.
“We’re in a difficult situation, but the fans are mature. The players must feel supported at Mestalla.
“Espanyol should take note. The fans will give us that boost we need.”
