Enrique irritated by Messi ‘scrutiny’

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has responded to Pere Gratacos’ demotion by insisting there is no need to “scrutinise” everything Lionel Messi.

Barca’s preparations for their La Liga match against Las Palmas on Saturday have been marred by their sudden removal of RFEF representative Gratacos, who had claimed Messi “wouldn’t have been as good without Andres Iniesta and Neymar”.

“I’m not going to be drawn into this,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“I’ve heard all his statements and he said that Leo Messi is the best. There’s no need to scrutinise everything.

“The club have already made it clear where they stand [on Messi’s renewal] and Leo too. There’s no need to go over these statements again and again.

“Las Palmas? They’re one of the most entertaining teams to watch as a fan.

“As an opposing Coach, they’re not because you have to try to take the ball off them.

“It’s an important game because we need a good run at home for the purposes of picking up points.”
