Atletico after Arsenal’s Alexis?

Arsenal star forward Alexis Sanchez has emerged as Atletico Madrid's primary target for the summer transfer window, should FIFA lift their transfer ban.

The Chilean has not yet renewed on his current deal at the Emirates stadium which expires in June 2018 with growing concern at the North London club that he may seek a move elsewhere at the end of the current campaign.

Several media outlets in Chile, including El Grafico de Chile, are reporting that Atletico Madrid have made the attacker their top priority to solve their shortage of goals, with Madrid-based AS also reporting of Los Rojiblancos interest.

The 28-year-old joined the Gunners from Barcelona in the summer of 2014 but had reportedly also held discussions with Atletico.

Diego Simeone's side are currently waiting to hear back on whether or not their FIFA transfer ban – preventing them from signing players until January 2018 – will be lifted or reduced, in a similar manner to Real Madrid's.

Any deal for Sanchez could pave the way for Antoine Griezmann's departure from Los Colchoneros.
