Alaves boss Mauricio Pellegrino has praised his side’s defensive solidity and work-rate after they earned a point in a scoreless draw in the San Mames.
The Basque side have conceded at a miserly rate of only one goal per game this season and continued their fantastic away form which has seen them pick up victories at Barcelona and Villarreal, with a draw at Athletic Bilbao the latest admirable result.
"We played very strongly and very well, I believe we deserved a draw from a tough fixture,”
“We lacked a little bit of a goalscoring threat as we have done in other games this season and that is something we must work to improve upon.
“Defensively we have been very attentive and marked well at our corners and maintained our concentration level and that is always the most important thing because if you don’t concede it gives you a chance.”
Athletic Bilbao remain 7th while Alaves stay 12th in the standings.
