Osasuna sack Caparros, promote SD!

Osasuna have sacked manager Joaquin Caparros after less than two months in charge and replaced him with sports director Petar Vasiljevic.

61-year-old Caparros was appointed at El Sadar in early November to replace Enrique Martin, but he went on to lose seven of his eight matches in charge of the club.

Vasiljevic has now been appointed until the end of the current campaign, with his only previous management experience coming at the club's youth side between 2008 and 2010.

The former Serbian defender played for Osasuna in the 1999-2000 season, having previously spent four years at Albacete and since retiring has worked as both a youth coach and director of football with Los Rojillos.

Osasuna currently lie bottom of La Liga, with only one win and seven points from their opening 16 matches having won promotion to the top flight via the play-offs after a two-year absence.
