Sevilla winger Vitolo defended the officials at the Bernabeu after his side were left ruing decisions that may have come harshly against them.

Real Madrid won the side’s Copa Del Rey last 16 clash 3-0 with two of the hosts three goals – two of which were netted by James Rodriguez and one from defender Raphael Varane – the result of questionable refereeing decisions, but the Spanish international believes mistakes are natural.

"The referees sometimes help you and sometimes they don't, they are human like us and they can make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes don't benefit you, that was the case tonight," Vitolo told reporters in the mixed zone after the game.

"It's honestly very difficult, it is an uphill task but anything can happen in the second leg"

"It is normal that they have come out to press, we didn't have great intensity in the first half and we paid by conceding goals.”

The return leg of the Copa Del Rey clash takes place at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan on 12th January, with last year’s beaten finalists needing to produce a remarkable turnaround.
