Malaga complete Penaranda deal

Malaga have completed a loan deal for Venezuelan forward Adalberto Penaranda from English Premier League side Watford for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old arrives at La Rosaleda on a deal until the end of June, with an option for Los Boquerones to extend his temporary stay to include next season.

The Venezuelan – who hit five goals in 27 appearances for Malaga’s eastern Andalucian rivals Granada last term – become Marcelo Romero’s first signing at the Costa del Sol club.

Peñaranda penned a four-and-a-half year deal with Watford in February last year after a stint at Udinese but spent the entirety of last season on loan at El Grana. (Watford, Udinese and Granada were all owned by the Pozzo family, before Granada were sold to Chinese investors in the summer of 2016)

However, the Venezuelan striker was immediately loaned back to the Udine-based side over summer but made only six appearances and one start in Serie A this season.
