Grizi ‘angry’ with goal drought

Atletico Madrid ace Antoine Griezmann admits he is “angry” with his goal drought but insists “I don’t care about what people say”.

AS suggested a group of Atleti fans felt Griezmann “lacked leadership” in crucial moments, such as last season’s Champions League final, and that he was being blamed for his run of nine La Liga games without a goal.

Responding to those accusations, the Frenchman told the newspaper: “I think I helped to win important matches like those against Barcelona and Bayern in the Champions League and, if we’re talking about the European Championship, the game against Germany.

“The truth is that I don’t care about what people say. I want to be the best footballer I can be and help my team at important moments, that’s it.

“Sometimes this is done with goals, other times I’ll defend to give my teammates a hand… I don’t get obsessed with what people say or don’t about me.

“My goal drought? I’m not worried. It’s true that I’m angry about not scoring goals. I can’t find the back of the net right now.

“There are times when forwards can score from anywhere and others when the ball doesn’t go in and the goals don’t follow.

“Still, I know that with hard work, they will come. In training, I do well in front of my opponents’ goal and my intentions are always to work for the good of the team, have fun on the pitch and be happy on it.”
