‘Prandelli looked for an excuse!’

Valencia director Anil Murthy has slammed Cesare Prandelli for “giving up” and “looking for excuses to leave” following the Coach’s shock resignation on Friday.

Prandelli walked out on Valencia after just two months in charge, with AS reporting no money for signings in January as the reason for his exit, but Murthy hit back at the former Italy boss, reminding him “there are no excuses for having taken only six points”.

“Twenty-four hours ago, I met Prandelli, talking about signings, so I was surprised to see him abandon the ship,” the board member said at a Press conference.

“What kind of person expects a club to guarantee the signings of five players over 26 within a week of the market opening?

“Prandelli gave up, he was looking for excuses to leave. There are no excuses for having taken only six points.

“There wasn’t a plan without Prandelli, now’s the time to work and the priority is Voro, the squad and digesting what happened.

“Lim told me at four in the morning that the most important thing right now are the players, so we must go and support them.”
