Italian champions Juventus are planning a move for Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez, according to multiple reports in Spain and Italy.

AS report the Old Lady are favourites for the Colombian playmaker who stated he wished to seek more first-team playing opportunities away from the Bernabeu after the Club World Cup final earlier this month, which has prompted Madrid to listen to offers.

Juve had reportedly considered signing the 25-year-old to replace the void left by Paul Pogba’s departure to Manchester United in August, but eventually decided against a move at the time.

“James? It depends on how our market is,” explained Juve director general Giuseppi Marotta in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

We will remain respectful of financial equilibrium, but everyone knows that Juventus want to place ourselves among the best clubs in the world. That will always be our ambition and objective.”

AS goes on to suggest the former Porto and Monaco playmaker also turned down a late deadline day move to Inter Milan earlier this year, instead preferring to stay in Madrid and fight for his place but lack of playing time has prompted him to seek opportunities elsewhere.
