‘Madrid have been lucky so far…’

Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto believes Real Madrid have ‘had a bit of luck so far’ this season due to scoring so many late goals.

The Blaugrana’s 4-1 win in the Catalan derby saw them close the gap to Madrid at the top to three points, although Los Blancos have played a game less due to their participation in the Club World Cup.

"I think that they have had a bit of luck so far," Sergi Roberto explained on RAC1.

"They have been scoring goals in the last minute and it is clear that a game doesn't end in the last minute of course. But they have been managing to score then through fouls or corners."

The 24-year-old also expressed his confidence in Lionel Messi renewing at Camp Nou and reinstated his belief that the Argentine was the world’s best player.

"Leo wouldn't be happier than he is here," smiled Sergi Roberto.

"He is a close friend of Luis Suarez and he has just renewed so he should follow.

"I don't think that you can compare Ronaldo or anyone else to Messi – Ballon d'Or aside, everyone knows that Messi is the best and that he is light years away from the rest."
