Depor want longer Babel stay

Deportivo La Coruna boss Gaizka Garitano hopes his club can retain the services of in-form Ryan Babel, whose deal expires at the end of the month.

The Dutch forward joined the Galicians on a short-term deal in September after his release from Al-Ain and his strike against Osasuna on Sunday was his fourth goal in eleven appearances for the club.

“"We want him to stay and we'll see – I've talked to him a lot about the future,” Garitano told reporters after the match.

“He’s very comfortable here and would not mind staying on at the club but he has some other things in his head and we’ll see what happens.

“It’s also important he makes a gesture or an effort to show the fans he wants to stay and continue in this team.”

Garitano also praised his side for playing an ‘intelligent match’ in Sunday’s 2-0 victory – Depor’s first clean sheet at the Riazor this season.
