Joaquin Sanchez is facing an anxious wait to see if his calf injury in Real Betis’ 1-0 defeat to Alaves is a serious one.
Joaquin started once more in his new central-midfield role alongside Dani Ceballos at Alaves but pulled up five minutes before half-time, Betis confirming after the game that the veteran had “suffered a contracture in his soleus”.
“We’re going to wait for the doctors to do a good job in case they have to do any tests,” noted Coach Victor Sanchez.
“He’s in a bit of pain at the moment. I asked him if he had a knock, but he doesn’t know exactly whether it was a muscle contracture or something else.”
