ZZ: Video tech must be clearer

Zinedine Zidane admits it’s encouraging to see the introduction of video technology in football but it ‘must be clearer for everyone’.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal in injury time ensured Real Madrid’s path to the final of the Club World Cup but only after the referee consulted video technology to ensure the goal was onside.

“We must adapt to what FIFA want to do – in Ronaldo’s goal, there was bit of confusion so things must be done clearer, but we must adapt,” said Zidane after the game.

"Improving things is good for football. But it must be clearer for everyone and it was not in this move.”

Real Madrid extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 36 matches with the victory and now will play Japanese side Kashima Antlers in Sunday’s final.

“They are a strong team in general, we won’t pick out just one player to analyse and it will be a difficult game,” he continued.

"We were off our pace in the first half and didn't create many chances. Our work rate was low. Then we regained our rhythm.

“Physically we are prepared – we have had a long trip and it has cost us a bit but we're well and motivated.

“Now we must res since we play the Club World Cup final on Sunday. We're here for that trophy & want to win it."
