Oblak injury ‘worst thing’ – Cholo

Atletico Madrid Diego Simeone believes a shoulder injury sustained by goalkeeper Jan Oblak is more damaging than his side’s loss to Villarreal.

The Slovenian had to be replaced before the break by Miguel Angel Moya after picking up an injury to his shoulder ten minutes after Los Rojiblancos had lost midfielder Tiago to a knock.

"The worst thing is [the injury to] Oblak," Simeone told reporters after the 3-0 loss at El Madrigal.

"Hopefully it's not so serious, but his injury upset us.

"The second half was not easy because we were 2-0 down and the injury to Oblak, but the team tried everything that they could to reduce the score.

"I go with the feeling that the team fought, worked and looked for the best chance to win, but the results are not encouraging us.

"We have to work because it is the only way to improve. We accept the criticism, because when a team loses games you need to improve."

Atletico now sit sixth in the league standings with only one win from their last five La Liga outings and four defeats in seven.
