Sampaoli ‘excited’ by Celta battle

Jorge Sampaoli says he is “excited” by the “tactical” battle that awaits Sevilla on Sunday when they face Celta Vigo in La Liga.

A run of just two wins in their last five games make Sevilla’s trip to Balaidos all the more important as Barcelona’s victory over Osasuna moved them four points clear in second place, while Atletico Madrid can leapfrog the Andalusians into third if the latter trip up and they beat Villarreal.

“We’re excited by the setting, our opponents and continuing to work in the same way,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“The match will be very difficult. It’ll be a very interesting game for us. We’re obliged to keep up with the high level of motivation. We hope to have a good evening.

“Celta are doing very well at home. We have to keep up with this. If not, we’ll suffer. They’re a team that know very well how they play.

“We’ll have to play very well if we are to have a good evening. Celta want to be the stars. They press a lot in midfield, so it’ll be an interesting game from a tactical perspective.

“Mariano and Escudero? We’re seeing how they’re recovering. Without them, we’re a bit thin out wide, but we still need to play, trying to take control of the game and without losing depth, which is something we’ve lacked in recent games.

“Ban in Europe? I’m bitter about what happened, but it’s my responsibility. It’s clear what the rules are. Once you’re sent off, you can’t give any orders.”
