“He who owes nothing, fears nothing”

Cristiano Ronaldo insists he has nothing to hide regarding his tax affairs and has published his financial records for 2015 through agency Gestifute.

The statements shows the Portuguese star declared €227.3m of income last year and comes amidst accusations of tax evasion that he hid €150m worth of image rights in the tax haven of the British Virgin Islands.

Gestifute – the agency run by super agent Jorge Mendes that represents Ronaldo – released the document which they believe shows he did not evade any payment of taxes and that he has declared assets outside of Spain valued at €203.7m and inside the country of €23.5m.

"This document confirms that Spain's Tax Agency is knowledgeable of all of Cristiano Ronaldo's assets and income. From now on, the player will not make any further statement on this subject," read the agency’s statement.

"As reported in recent days, the player has been aware of his tax obligations right away from the beginning of his professional career in all of the countries in which he has resided, and has not and has never had any issue with the tax authorities of any of those countries.

"This communication, which was not required by law, constitutes irrefutable proof that Cristiano Ronaldo and his representatives are in good faith and cooperate with the authorities in a spirit of transparency and compliance with legality."

When asked about the situation after Real Madrid's Champions League clash on Wednesday night, the 31-year-old responded "You believe I am worried? He who owes nothing, fears nothing," on Portuguese TV station RTP.
