Benzema: I pay my taxes

Karim Benzema confirmed "I pay my taxes" when asked about his fiscal situation following recent allegations against his Real Madrid teammates.

A number of the French striker's colleagues at the Bernabeu – including Cristiano Ronaldo, Dani Carvajal and Luka Modric – have found themselves at the centre of controversy surrounding potentially damaging revelations regarding their tax structure.

"You have to pay taxes," the 28-year-old is quoted as saying by L'Equipe after netting twice in Wednesday's 2-2 Champions League draw against Borussia Dortmund, which saw Madrid finish second in their group but equal the club record 34-match unbeaten run.

"I'm asked to pay my taxes, I pay them, that's it. It's no big deal. I see people are talking about that everywhere. I focus on football, I pay my taxes, no problem."

Benzema was recently labelled a 'fiscal patriot' in France due to paying his image right taxes in the less favourable rates in France through his 'Best of Benzema' company.
