Barca propose Chapecoense invite

FC Barcelona have formally invited Brazilian side Chapecoense to next year's edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy at the club's Camp Nou stadium.

In an official statement on Thursday morning, the Catalan club announced they 'want to pay tribute' to the 71 people who lost their lives when the plane carrying players, coaches, staff and journalists of the Brazilian club to the Sudamericana Final in Colombia tragically crashed.

The Barca statement went on to read they wished to help Chapecoense 'reach and regain the competitive level' it previously had.

Earlier this month, Segunda side Cadiz announced they would be inviting the Brazilian club to the Trofeo Ramon de Carranza in 2017, with all expenses paid and all proceeds going to the families of the victims – http://www.football-espana.net/61953/cadiz-make-chapecoense-invitation.
