Karim Benzema insists “to win the Champions League, first or second doesn’t matter” in the group stage after Real Madrid’s draw with Borussia Dortmund.
Benzema reached half-a-century in Champions League goals on Wednesday thanks to his brace against Dortmund, although his finishes were not enough to take Madrid into the last 16 as winners of Group F.
“It was a good, tough match against a good team,” he told BeIN Sports after the game.
“To win the Champions League, it doesn’t matter if you finish first or second [in your group].
“Perhaps we lacked a degree of concentration in the first half. It was a spectacular match, with real effort and pride.
“I know it’s difficult to play here, but I work hard in training.
“The debate of me being a starter? When I hear about it, I have to improve and train more.”
