Real Madrid insist Cristiano Ronaldo “is fully on top of his tax affairs”, in a statement defending the “exemplary” Portuguese.
Ronaldo’s tax situation has come under mass scrutiny in recent days, amidst allegations that the forward had hidden at least €150m of his income in overseas tax havens.
A statement on Los Blancos’ official website, late on Tuesday, read: “Following reports that have been published in recent days and in light of the certificate issued by the Tax Agency, which proves that our player Cristiano Ronaldo is fully on top of his tax affairs, Real Madrid demand the utmost respect for a player such as Cristiano Ronaldo, whose behaviour has been absolutely exemplary throughout his career at our club.”
