Ron aware of risky tax structure – report

Representatives of Cristiano Ronaldo and former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho were warned over their tax affairs, according to reports in spain.

El Mundo reports that the two were made aware that their tax structures were risky and over 18 million leaked documents reveal the Spanish tax authorities have been looking into Ronaldo's tax for the past twelve months.

The documents alledge Ronaldo to have routed at least €150m of income through the tax haven of the British Virgin Isles since he joined Los Blancos from Manchester United in 2009 while Mourinho moved his income to six different countries during his spell at the Bernabeu between 2010 and 2013.

Both Portuguese stars are represented by agent Jorge Mendes' company Gestifute, who have denied any wrongdoing and insist all their clients have been compliant with tax regulations.

However, El Mundo have since printed an email to show a leading lawyer firm in Madrid telling the company that these offshore companies would come under scrutiny.

"The structure you have created gentlemen is going to cause a serious problem for the player [Ronaldo],"read the leaked email which had allegedly been written and submitted by Julio Senn, former managing director of Real Madrid and now a leading sports law expert in Spain.
