Now we have a game pattern – Joaquin

Joaquin believes Real Betis now have a game plan since Victor Sanchez del Amo was appointed to replace Gus Poyet as manager.

The 35-year-old winger is due to make his 300th appearance for Los Verdiblancos against Eibar on Friday night and believes there is much reason for optimism at the club following the appointment of the former Deportivo boss.

“It has been a very impressive start with important changes being made; we now attack and defend as a group,” Joaquin explained on Radio Marca.

“We now have a game pattern and it was crucial to get three points last weekend but now we must kick on.

“It is simple – Poyet is not a bad coach but his philosophies did not translate across into the team which everyone must take responsibility for, but now we feel like an orderly team with direction.

“Last Friday (2-0 win against Las Palmas) was our best performance of the season but we now must work hard to maintain that level and keep pushing to play well.

“We have five defenders on and with Donk now playing next to Petros in midfield, it gives us a lot of security and a good team balance."

The former Valencia and Malaga star was coy about his future, instead emphasising he is currently enjoying his role at the club.

“I have one more year of my contract, so we shall see what happens when that is up," he continued.
