Atleti can ‘fulfil dreams’ – Oblak

Jan Oblak believes Atletico Madrid can still have a successful campaign despite being nine points off leaders Real Madrid in the league standings.

Three defeats in their last four outings have seen Los Rojiblancos sink to sixth in the table and they have also conceded an average of two goals a game in that time, but the the Slovenian goalkeeper is confident they can recover from this blip.

“We have dreams and we believe we can fulfill them this season,” Oblak told AS.

“You always want to improve and to go forward and defeating PSV gave us a much better feeling than after the derbi, when we were all disappointed.

“Our goals are to finish in the top three and once again to go far in the Champions League, but we dream much higher than that and who’s to say we can’t do that this season?”

After conceding only three goals in their first eleven games in all competitions this campaign, Atleti’s rock-solid defence has become leaky of late but the 23-year-old is ‘confident’ of keeping clean sheets regardless of who is in front of him.

“As a goalkeeper here I have always been confident, the team is full of great players and we are very well-drilled,” he added.
