Gareth Bale will miss Real Madrid's La Liga clash with Barcelona at Camp Nou on 3 December with an ankle injury, according to reports in Spain.

Both AS and Mundo Deportivo report the Welsh international is set to miss the top-of-the-table clash after picking up an ankle injury in his side's 2-1 win at Sporting CP on Tuesday.

Bale limped off after 57 minutes and has since been diagnosed with dislocating tendons in his right ankle, with Los Blancos confirming on Wednesday afternoon that the player had 'dislocated both of the peroneal tendons in his right ankle'.

The 27-year-old will definitely miss the next three weeks, say the reports, and depending on his progress he may need surgery which would keep him sidelined for up to eight weeks.

"Gareth Bale suffered more of an ankle twist than a knock but we'll have to wait and see what the problem is," Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane said after the game, UEFA reported.

However, Marca did give hope to for the Welsh forward returning earlier, suggesting that sources within the club believed he could be back in time for the Barca clash.
