Isco: We’re working on new contract

Real Madrid playmaker Isco has confirmed both he and the club are working on agreeing a new long-term contract.

With his current deal expiring in 2018, Los Blancos are keen to tie the 24-year-old down at the club although media speculation on Tuesday had suggested the player himself was reluctant to commit until his role at the club was clarified.

"I still have this year and next on my contract, both the club and myself are looking forward (to a renewal) and we hope to sort it out," Isco is quoted by Marca as saying after Tuesday night’s victory over Sporting CP.

"I'm getting continuity now and am happy to help the team."

The victory in Lisbon ensures Zinedine Zidane’s side progressed to the last sixteen of the competition, but will now need to beat Borussia Dortmund at home to top the group.

"That's an important game, against a team that plays well on the counter-attack," noted Isco.

"We will have to be patient, as we were at Atletico."
