Villarreal forward Nicola Sansone has confessed one of the main reasons he came to Spain was because of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 25-year-old German-born Italian said that Ronaldo was an ‘idol’ of his and it helped in his decision to join El Submarino Amarillo from Sassuolo this summer.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the reasons why I chose to come to Spain," Sansone is quoted as saying in Marca.
"He has always been an idol of mine.
"When I faced [Cristiano] Ronaldo, the match went really well and I asked him for his shirt, but he was upset at having been held to a draw, so he promised he'd give it to me on the return leg."
Sansone has settled down quickly in his new home, netting four goals in his first eight appearances for Fran Escriba’s side.
