Ander Herrera believes he is only in the Spanish national squad because of working under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
The 27-year-old was handed his first Spain call-up by Julen Lopetegui last month and looks set to make his debut against England on Tuesday night after being an unused substitute in the World Cup qualifiers against Italy, Albania and Macedonia.
"I am in the national side thanks to the opportunity Mourinho has given to me to play in a role that I feel comfortable," Herrera told the Daily Mail.
"The team is enjoying every day with him. The workouts are dynamic, we always play with the ball so that we never lose concentration.
"He will speak his mind and tell you what he thinks about you, things you will like, and things you will not."
The Basque midfielder has featured twelve times for United this campaign, scoring once and has featured 84 times in total for the Red Devils since his 2014 move from Athletic Bilbao.
