Umtiti ruled out for three weeks

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has been ruled out of action for three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury on international duty with France.

The 22-year-old picked up the injury on Wednesday in training ahead of Les Bleus clash with Sweden and was swiftly replaced in the squad by Valencia's on-loan defender Eliaquim Mangala.

"We can confirm that first team player Samuel Umtiti has a torn hamstring in his left leg and will be out for approximately three weeks," read a statement from the Catalan club.

The centre half, signed from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer, also missed three weeks of action earlier in the season when injuring his knee against Atletico Madrid.

He is now set to miss the Blaugrana's forthcoming matches with Malaga, Celtic, Real Sociedad and Hercules, although they hope to have him back in time for El Clasico against Real Madrid on 3 December.
