Real Betis have approached former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini as a potential replacement to Gus Poyet, say reports in Spain.
The Chilean coach is currently working at Hebei China Fortune in the Chinese Super League, but Radio Sevilla state Los Verdiblancos have made enquiries into his availability, even if a move does seem unlikely for financial reasons.
The 63-year-old is thought to currently be earning €4m per year in China, while AS suggests that the Betis budget currently on has €700,000 available, which would be further reduced if Poyet's two-year deal was cut short.
Pellegrini has currently coached in Spain with Villarreal, Real Madrid and Malaga, before moving to Manchester City, where he was replaced by Pep Guardiola this summer.
