Draw leaves a bitter taste – QSF

Espanyol boss Quique Sanchez Flores lamented his side dropping more points against Athletic Bilbao, but praised his side's performance.

The Catalans remain without a home win in any of their six league outings at the RCDE stadium this season, but the former Watford boss believes performances are improving and a win will come soon.

"The draw leaves a bitter taste – we played well and deserved more from the game," explained the 51-year-old after the game.

"We played more than we have in previous games, we enjoyed more of the ball and had more chances, but against a team who have had the same base, continuity and ideas for many years it is difficult.

"We are committed to our ideas and we believe this will change our results – the fans are happy with the performances.

"A lack of goals is a problem, but we created lots of chances and we are confident and the players believe in the methods, which is what is important and why I'm not concerned."

Espanyol lie 13th in the table, while Athletic Bilbao sit in 7th.
