Jorge Sampaoli has revealed that Sevilla “have a plan to stop Barcelona and another for Lionel Messi” ahead of Sunday’s clash between the two teams.
Former Chile boss Sampaoli only knows too well of Messi’s qualities, also being Argentine and having faced him in the 2015 Copa America final, which saw the 56-year-old come out on top.
“We must ensure the ball reaches Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar as little as possible,” the Coach said at a Press conference.
“I hope we win tomorrow as it’d be good for confidence and strengthen our belief in our ideas.
“There should be two Ballon d’Ors, one for Messi and one for everyone else because there’s a gap between Leo and normal players. It’s a mistake to compare the incomparable.
“In order to stop Messi, we must defend when he has the ball and try to deny him from having too much influence. We have a plan to stop Barca and another for Leo.”
