Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli believes the manner of his side’s victory over Dinamo Zagreb shows they are deserving of a place in the competition knockouts.
Los Rojibloncos defeated the Croatian champions 4-0 and are now set to advance to the last sixteen of the competition, leading Juventus by two points and Lyon by six points, with two matches remaining.
“Winning in this way confirms we are now ready to go into the next round and keep fighting in this competition,” the former Chile boss is quoted as saying in Estadio Deportivo.
“The idea was to transform the dominance we had in Croatia into goals this time, and I think the result tonight is a fair reflection of the game.
“It will get more difficult and we will have opponents in more decisive matches, but this is a very good showing for us to build on.
“I was particularly happy with the leadership of the team in the absence of (Samir) Nasri – Ganso came in and was fantastic.”
