Vallejo ‘thinks about Madrid every day’

Jesus Vallejo ‘thinks about Real Madrid every day’ despite currently enjoying a season-long loan at German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

The central defender has never made a senior appearance for Los Blancos after joining them from Real Zaragoza last season, but admits that it is his burning desire to establish himself as a regular at the Bernabeu.

“I would love to. I think about it every day,” the 19-year replied on Onda Cero when asked about his ambition to become a first-team regular under Zinedine Zidane.

“I have to enjoy myself here and perform. If in the end we do good work here and everything goes well then I’ll leave stronger. I want to play as many minutes and win everything I can.”

The Spanish under 21 international also showed his modest side when told of comments by his coach Niko Kovac made at the weekend: “I’ve never seen a player like him, not as a coach or as a player. He’s ridiculously good.”

But Vallejo thought his manager was merely over exaggerating.

“I’ve heard [those comments],” he confirmed.

“But they are exaggerated by the boss. Those type of comments just help me get better.”
